Source Kalameh—Translation: Change for Equality: Bahareh Hedayat and Majid Tavakoli, two imprisoned student activists are facing new charges. According to reports, the investigative judge in Branch 4 of the revolutionary courts located inside Evin prison, has charged the two with “spreading of propaganda against the state” and “actions against national security through collusion against the state.” The investigative judge has declared that the two imprisoned student activists have collectively along with international media outlets colluded to act against the security of the state.

It is reported that these charges are in relation to a letter published on the occasion of Student Day December 7, 2010, purportedly written by Hedayat and Tavakoli. The letter was published broadly inside and outside Iran and received much media attention.

The investigative judge located in Branch 4 of the Revolutionary Court inside of Evin Prison has demanded that Bahareh and Majid deny that they wrote the letter, in a televised confession. If they refuse to do so, the judge has vowed to officially file charges against the two.
Bahareh Hedayat and Majid Tavakoli who have been imprisoned for the past year, have been sentenced to 9 and half years mandatory prison term and 8 years mandatory prison term respectively.

Bahareh Hedayat had gone on hunger strike to object to the illegal treatment and pressures she is facing in prison. She has since ended her hunger strike but has been denied visits with family for an undetermined period of time and is suffering from health problems.

Hedayat was sentenced to 7and half years in relation to her student rights activities and is serving an additional 2 year sentence in relation to her women’s rights activities. Besides being a leading student and human rights activist, Hedayat is a leading women’s rights and Campaign activist.
