Women’s rights activist Hana Abdi and a member of the Campaign was released from prison on February 25, 2009. Hana Abdi was arrested on November 6, 2007 and was tried on security charges. She was sentenced to 5 years of prison to be served in exile in the city of Garme in West Azarbaijan Province in her original trial, which was reduced to one a half years in appeals. Hana Abdi was released after serving her 18 month sentence.
